CDE Lecture 5- Dr. Ziad F. Z. Abusidu Presents on Minimal invasive ceramic restoration

Sulaimani, Kurdistan Region – The Department of Dentistry at Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) continued its Fall 2025 Continuing Dental Enrichment Programme with a seminar on November 2, 2025, featuring Dr. Ziad F. Z. Abusidu. Held in the E-Auditorium at 12:30 PM, the lecture focused on “Minimal Invasive Ceramic Restoration,” addressing the significant shift in restorative dentistry from traditional, mechanically retentive methods to more conservative and biologically respectful techniques. Dr. Ziad outlined how advancements in adhesive dentistry, high-performance ceramic materials, and improved understanding of tooth biomechanics have revolutionized clinical decision-making, enabling clinicians to preserve more natural tooth structure without compromising strength or longevity.

The presentation emphasized the scientific foundations behind minimally invasive treatment planning, highlighting the critical role of material science and adhesive technology in shaping modern cavity design. Dr. Ziad discussed key criteria for assessing the restorability of posterior teeth—such as remaining tooth structure, wall thickness, and biomechanical support—to ensure that the chosen restorative approach is both conservative and durable. The lecture encouraged practitioners to integrate these evidence-based principles into daily practice, reinforcing the importance of preserving tooth integrity while achieving predictable, long-term clinical outcomes.
